The traditional food culture in Ukraine has been invariably based on vegetables – both raw and pickled vegetables. The Ukrainian people have acquired a reputation for their hospitality. No festive table is devoid of home-made dishes. Ukrainian hostesses have never failed to surprise their family, neighbors and guests with the home art of cookery!
The food conservation traditions are especially strong in the Western Ukraine.
That is exactly why the European-level canning factory was built in the village of Muzhiyevo, on the rich Trans-Carpathian land. On December 16, 2005 "Bereg-Foods" Ltd. was founded. This enterprise deals with the procurement, processing and conservation of vegetables, green pea and corn (the so called grocery group).
The special feature of the above-mentioned enterprise is the availability of its own raw materials sources, as well as the adoption of the advanced technologies, such as trickle irrigation systems.
By growing vegetable plants (green pea, sweet corn, beans, etc.) with the use of its own resources the company provides for the closed-cycle process (that is, independent growing, processing and sale of finished products), which allows it to exercise maximum control over the production process and quality of finished products.
In order that the ripest and freshest vegetables may be delivered timely to consumers, the enterprise finds it necessary to attract daily up to 250 field workers during the periods of seasonal activities, which allows to gather crops efficiently and in the proper manner and deliver the raw products to appropriate facilities for further processing.
The assortment range of the enterprise includes the following products: vegetable pickles (cucumbers, pepper, tomatoes, assorted products), tomatoes in tomato juice, à wide range of vegetable salads, green pea, sweet corn. Besides, beans are planned to be produced in future.
The finished products are released by "Bereg-Foods" Ltd. both in glass containers and metal cans. During seasonal periods the enterprise turns out above 20 million product units in glass cans and about 40 million units in metal cans.
Finished products are supplied to the markets of Ukraine and Russia. Subsequently, the European markets are planned to be entered, following implementation of international standards ISO 22000: 2005.
